Getting a safe open in Elche
A safe that will not open is a particular kind of problem: whatever you need is in there, and the thing in the way was designed by people who thought carefully about this exact moment.

Why it is shut
- A dead battery in an electronic lock. Check this yourself first — it is free.
- A forgotten or changed code, including the one the previous owner never passed on.
- A key lost on a key-operated model.
- A seized bolt or a failed motor, where the code is accepted and nothing happens.
- Relocking triggered after somebody else already had a go at it.
How it gets opened
By working out what the safe actually is first. Grade, make, age and lock type between them decide whether there is a manipulation route, a bypass, or whether the only way in is through the lock. A good safe has been engineered to make every one of those slow, and the honest version is that a quality unit takes time and may not survive intact.
You get the assessment before anything starts: whether it is likely to open without damage, whether the lock will need replacing, and what each outcome costs. The cheap safe in a holiday flat and the graded unit in a shop office are entirely different conversations.
Do not keep trying codes. Many electronic safes lock out for a period after a handful of wrong attempts, and some have a relocker that triggers on tampering. Both make the job longer and dearer. Two or three attempts, then stop.
Where these calls come from in Elche
Two places, mostly, and they look nothing alike.
The first is the coast and the lettings. Along the Elche seafront and over in Gran Alacant — where around ten thousand residents, the large majority foreign and mostly British, make up a third of the Santa Pola municipality — a great many apartments came with a small safe in a wardrobe. Ownership changes, codes do not get passed on, and eventually somebody wants it open.
The second is business. Elche is Spain's principal footwear producer and the Parque Empresarial alone is reported to hold around 49% of the municipality's employment, so there are a lot of premises with a safe in the back office, usually opened by one person who is now on holiday, ill or no longer with the company.
The paperwork, and why we insist
Whatever is inside a safe is, by definition, something somebody wanted to keep from other people. So we establish that you are entitled to it before it opens — ownership of the safe, and entitlement to be in the property. For a company that means something showing your position in it. Nobody enjoys the question and everybody would want it asked if the safe were theirs.

What people ask before they call
Will the safe be usable afterwards?
Sometimes. A flat battery or a jammed bolt normally ends with the safe working again. A lost code on a good safe often means the lock is sacrificed, and whether it is worth replacing depends on what the safe cost in the first place. You will be told which of those you are facing before we start, along with what each ends up costing.
Is it just a dead battery?
Very often, and it is worth eliminating first because it costs nothing. Many electronic safes have an external battery compartment or a socket on the keypad. If the keypad lights up but nothing moves, that is more likely a bolt or a motor than a battery. If it is completely dead, change the batteries before ringing anyone.
What do you need before opening it?
Proof that the safe is yours or under your control, and proof of entitlement to be in the property it is in. For a business, something showing your position in the company. It is the same principle as a front door, for the same reason.
What about the safe in a holiday apartment that nobody has the code for?
Extremely common along this coast, usually in a wardrobe, usually left by an owner who has changed the code and moved country. With the owner's authorisation it is a routine job. Without it, we cannot touch it — the person at the door is not necessarily the person entitled to what is inside.
Can you get into a floor safe or one built into the wall?
Usually, though the surroundings complicate it: a floor safe set in concrete or a wall unit boxed into masonry limits the approach, and any repair afterwards involves more than the safe. Send photographs first — of the door, the lock and how it is installed — and we can tell you what is realistic.
How long does it take?
Anything from minutes to a good part of an afternoon. Safes are built specifically to make this slow, and a decent one does its job. Anyone quoting you a flat time before seeing the model is guessing.
